The Extralink EUROS V2 | PoE Switch | 4x 100Mb/s PoE/PoE+, 2x RJ45 Uplink 100Mb/s, 60W (Part number: EX.14831) from Extralink is a Power over Ethernet (PoE). PoE (Power over Ethernet) products transmit both power and data across the internal cores of an Ethernet cable technology, enabling to get power to hard-to-reach areas. Nowadays they are an integral part of homes network setup, helping to remove the need of having other power cables since PoE devices are powered by ethernet cables.

PoE Extralink EUROS v2 switch

It is a 6 port unmanaged switch with 4 PoE ports - with a maximum speed of 100 Mbps and IEEE 802.3af/at support - with maximum power per port up to 30W. The switch also has 2 RJ45 ports without PoE power options. These ports can be used as Uplink ports or to connect additional devices e.g. video recorder in monitoring applications.

Four additional operating modes of the PoE switch

There are four switches on the front of the EUROS v2 Switch, which allow you to run additional modes to improve network performance or range. Below are the operating principles of each mode:

• VLAN mode - when this mode is activated, the ports 1-4 are isolated from each other, which effectively suppresses broadcast storms and improves network performance.
• EXTEND mode - allows ports 1-4 to effectively transmit data and PoE power over distances up to 250 meters. This is ideal for video surveillance systems.
• AI QoS Mode - In this mode, video data is processed as a priority to ensure a smooth image. The solution used primarily in monitoring solutions.
• AI PS mode - the switch automatically detects the operating status of the connected device to one of the PoE ports. When it detects that it is not working properly, it automatically restarts the device.

Power over Ethernet

The EUROS v2 switch supports IEEE 802.3 af/at standards, automatically detects and identifies PoE devices that comply with these standards and provides power to them. There is no need to worry about devices that do not need power through PoE (not supporting IEEE 802.3 af/at standards) because the switch will not power these devices. The maximum power supply connected to the switch is 60W.
